Leverkusen snaps up Corluka on loan

01/31/2012 - Leverkusen, Germany (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Bayer Leverkusen landed Vedran Corluka from Tottenham on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to sign the defender to a longer contract, it was announced Tuesday.

Corluka has only managed three appearances with Tottenham this season as Spurs have preferred up-and-coming right back Kyle Walker.

Leverkusen chief executive Wolfgang Holzhaeuser sees Corluka making immediate contributions at the BayArena.

"With this signing, we've got a high-level option," Holzhaeuser said of the Croatian. "Corluka is a respected professional who will give us an immediate impact in class."

Corluka, 25, had originally joined Tottenham from Manchester City in 2008 for approximately $13.4 million.
